Phoenix streets must protect everyone — whether walking, rolling, biking, or driving — so everyone gets home safely.
Streets should be places where neighbors of all ages and backgrounds can gather, connect, and celebrate.
A safe street network should link to all destinations — without gaps that leave micro-mobility users stranded.
OUR CAMPAIGN
The proposal:
The City of Phoenix must act urgently to meet the community's need for an east-west multi-modal corridor across midtown by installing high-quality, safe, separated, bi-directional micro-mobility lanes designed for riders of all ages, along Osborn Road between 11th Ave and 20th Street.
Why Osborn?
Top-Priority Corridor: Identified as a tier 1 priority in the City-approved Phoenix Bike Master Plan since 2014.
High Potential Demand: Serves dense neighborhoods, schools, shops, and job centers.
Network Integration: Crosses major north–south bike routes and transit lines, creating a truly connected system.
Safer Alternative: Compared to Indian School and Thomas Roads, Osborn’s lower speeds and volumes make it the most practical and safest east–west option.
The safe infrastructure gap across midtown Phoenix:

OSBORN TODAY
Currently, Osborn Road between 11th Ave and 20th Streets, a 2.8 mile stretch of roadway, sees a reported crash every other day.
Osborn Road is not a safe roadway for vulnerable road users, who are disproportionately injured and killed here.

Cyclists in midtown Phoenix moving along east-west routes with insufficient protection are routinely struck by drivers. The below map organizes cyclist-involved crashes by injury severity, with dark red crashes indicating fatalities.

A separated micro-mobility lane on Osborn Road would provide a safe path for riders looking to avoid the risk on Indian School or Thomas Roads while moving east-west through midtown.
